Kurt Decker hails from New Hope, Minnesota (a suburb of Minneapolis). He ran for famed running coach, Rick Kleyman, and is an accomplished marathoner and ultra marathoner. Kurt holds the Minnesota state record for 100 miles and has a marathon personal best of 2:40:28.
Affectionately called California Kurt for his laid-back style and even-keeled personality, Kurt has created and directed a number of road and trail races around Minnesota.
Kurt joined the Marathon Adventure team in 2012 to direct the inaugural White Continent Marathon & 1/2 Marathon and Punta Arenas Marathon & 1/2 Marathon (2013). Kurt returned in 2014 & 2015 to direct the White Continent 50k, Marathon & 1/2 Marathon, Punta Arenas 50k, Marathon & 1/2 Marathon, Southern Cross Marathon & 1/2 Marathon and Penguin Marathon & 1/2 Marathon. In doing so, he became only the second person in history to direct ultras on 3 different continents.
When he’s not running or directing events, Kurt is the general manager for TC Running Company — a Minneapolis-based running store. When he’s not managing the stores, Kurt enjoys spending time with this wife, who is also an accomplished distance runner, and their three children.
