Marathon Adventures is proud to announce that we are an official Tour Operator for the Shanghai Marathon which has officially been announced as a candidate race for the Abbott World Marathon Majors. It is the highest-rated marathon in China and is categorized as a Platinum Label Road Race by World Athletics.
The course weaves through Shanghai’s iconic landmarks, including the Bund, the Oriental Pearl Tower, and the city’s modern skyline, offering runners a scenic and dynamic route. The event is known for its excellent organization, enthusiastic crowd support, and the city’s unique blend of traditional and modern culture.
Marathon Adventures is pleased to be offering a 4-Day /3 -Night Package at the upscale boutique hotel Hotel Indigo Shanghai. The Hotel Indigo Shanghai is located close to the starting line. Packages include guaranteed race entry, daily breakfast, and a visit to the Marathon expo.
The race kicks off at The Bund, Shanghai’s legendary waterfront promenade, where runners are treated to sunrise views over the Huangpu River and Pudong’s glittering skyline. From there, the route winds through some of Shanghai’s most celebrated neighborhoods and landmarks.
Highlights along the course include:
The Bund – colonial-era architecture meets modern China at the iconic starting point.
People’s Square – the vibrant beating heart of central Shanghai.
Jing’an Temple – a stunning Buddhist temple nestled among skyscrapers.
The Xuhui District – tree-lined boulevards and the charming Former French Concession.
Nanpu Bridge – dramatic views over the Huangpu River.
West Bund Art Center – a creative riverside precinct showcasing Shanghai’s artistic spirit.
The race finishes at Xujiahui Sports Park, where runners are welcomed with applause, medals, and the satisfaction of conquering one of Asia’s great marathons.
